for Rapists

Here at the Lib Dims we have have a keen sense of justice. We champion the rights of society’s most maligned indiviuals. That is why we have made it our mission to uphold the rights of .. Rapists.
Rights for Rapists!
We are particularly appalled that suspected rapists are treated no differently from any other suspected criminal. Rapists are treated no better than paedophiles, murderers and terrorists – they are not granted anonymity! Despite the terrible stigma associated with rape.

That is why it has been our policy since 2006 to insist on anonymity for all persons accused of rape. We’ve tried to enshrine this into law twice already but sadly, because of our less enlightened colleagues in The House, have failed. But we remain committed to pushing for this fundamental human right. Afterall, rape victims have been given anonymity for years – why not rapists!

The Anti-Human Rights Brigade
Neigh-sayers pose ridiulous questions like:
“Why just rapists? Surely paedophiles or terrorists have even more stigma associated with them? Why aren’t you championing their right to anonymity too?”
or:
“The overwhelming majority of men accused of rape, did it. And because rape is so hard to convict the overwhelming majority of rapists will never be brought to justice – 99% by some estimates. Most women don’t even report the crime.  For the vast majority of those who do, the case is never taken to court. Overall, only 6% of reported rapes result in a conviction even though the level of ‘false accusations’ is less than for any other crime. In fact, it is often only by naming a suspect that other victims may come forward to give any chance of justice.”
We do not deign to dignify these oppressors with a response.
